Old News of FurrySmut.com

- A list of changes I've made to the site.
In no particular order:
- The Image Link images, on the left of the main page, and the top of the readers and authours pages. Unfortunately I was not able to recover all of the proper images for each page.
- On the Readers Page the ratings mouse over image was created. I made up the new text because the original is lost.
- On the Authors Page: The Your Copyright image and mouse over image were created by me. Again the originals were lost.
- On the Authors Page: The database mouse over image was created by me. Again the original was lost.
- The rest of the image links, and mouse over images were replaced by new images created by my but match the existing text except for the FAQ mouse over, I moved the whole word questions to the third line.
Instead of leaving it hyphenated.
- This change was made to keep things consistent. While I could not match the originals 100% my recreations are 99% there and thats close enough for me
- I've tried to update every instance of E-Mail from "mailto:jewel@furrysmut.com" to "mailto:admin@furrysmut.com".
- I did change the bio mouse over image to use my Fursona instead of Jewel. I might add another image link at some point to fully give my own praise for Jewel and the original site.
- I will post a Bio page eventually.
- I will be going through the text of each page and fixing references and links when available or strikeing through links that no longer work. Just some general maintenance from the information being 23 years old at this point.
- My next update will be in a few weeks and I'll list out my progress with the database, for now ive got a lot of stories to keyword tag. A database to build, and a search page to make actually work.
But I just want everyone to know the site is no longer dead. Enjoy.
Saturday, June 6, 2026
- Just wanted to say hello. Hi.
- I am not Jewel. I am not the original curator/operator of this site. But the domain was available for purchase. I acquired it. And I took it upon myself to bring back a site that was very near and dear to me.
- My intention is to leave as much of the original intact as possible. But to be forthright not all of the site was archived. For one all of the original stories are gone. The search page
may never work as it did before. But I will do my best to try to recreate the look and feel when I get the stories setup.
- I have already gone and searched far and wide to collect as many of the original stories as I could but there are definitely gaps.
- My methodology was to collect the authors from the archived news posts, cross reference the size of the database with the number of stories available from that author for that time period.
and I went and got their latest as well. So I have more stories than in the original furrysmut.com collection. But not all of the originals. and In time I will make more posts and content to further that search.
- For now though my goal was just ressurecting as much of the original as I could.
- 100% I am available for communication if anyone wants to reach out. For now just ping admin@furrysmut.com thanks!

- Just a little information actually. I've got a few stories that
need to be posted, and I'll get that up soon. Llyander asked to have
hir stories removed, so they have been.
- Go check out the this website
for information reguarding a new furry con to be held near the center
of Ohio! We're having a kick off Con Zero celebration soon. All the
information you need can be found at the given link. I'd love to see
you there!
Friday, May 9, 2003
- Update today, finally, I know you all think I'm dead or something!
We're up to 211 stories, which includes the 3 I lost from an author
wanting the material removed. They didn't give a reason, but honoring
their wishes is important, so they've been pulled from the archive.
I'm still working away, got a couple stories I need to get resubmitted
because of the formatting on them. If you're a new author, and you
want to send me stories, be sure to indicate wether or not you want
your e-mail displayed. Almost half the people sending in stories forget
this step. Lots more clerical work for me when that happens.
- I've been having massive problems with my e-mail. I haven't missed
any, but it's been confusing reading them all half from the web server,
and half from my client. If I haven't responded, please resend your
e-mail, chances are it got lost in the shuffle, or I think I've already
responded to it and haven't.
- Don't forget I'll let you know via
E-mail
if you wish to be added to the mailing list for updates.
- Today's authors include Bahamuat S. Dragons, Xial Lunashine, Sarah
Skunkie, Nightshade, Evoquus, David G., Darkbird, and Professor Bob.
Give them all a big thank you for contributing :D
Tuesday, February 4, 2003
- Update today! We're up to 202 stories, which means we broke the
200 mark. I'm very happy with the size of the archive going up. Keep
on responding to authors, telling them where you saw the story, and
how much you liked what you read. That'll keep the writers coming
back with more erotic stories.
- If you'd like to recieve an e-mail every time the archive is updated
just drop me an
E-mail.
Remeber furry somewhere in the subject line.
- Today's authors include Daniel Swiss, The Tiger Wolphen, Rudolph
Strang, Evoquus, Teeto Fox, Brius, Bahamut S. Dragons. Thanks to all
of them for contributing.

- I'm still here! Things have been crazy. I moved out of my old apartment
and into a new apartment. Currently I'm living with a fur named Stripes, and
things are working out just fine. I've never really owned/rented anything
in my entire life, but it's very exilerating to know that I'm the one looking
for room-mates to live at my place.
- I've also started school. Despite that, and the fact that authors haven't
submitted much, I've gone looking for authors to archive in FurrySmut.COM.
That means going through the slow process of finding other story sites, and
e-mailing each author individually requesting permission. I've gotten some
responses back, and I do have a few stories ready to be uploaded. Look
for an update soon! Thanks for visiting :D
Tuesday, January 7, 2003
- Oh my God! I'm update. Yes, yes, I'm still alive, and I still care. Travi
is also back, so she's been working on getting more of Swamprat's stories
together. As for the update we have a fine new selection of stuff from Evoquus,
K.M. Hirosaki, Nightshade, , Rancid, Teeto Fox, and finally Toumal. The total
story count is now 185. Keep on sending them in.
- I'm going to be distributing FurrySmut.COM sticky things, like you put on
a skateboard, car bumper, or other flat place, at some of the east coast cons.
If you're going to be attending a major furry west coast con, and you'd like
some of these to distribute, give me an E-mail
and we can discuss things.
- As for me, I'm going to be moving today, so things have been crazy. I also
started Winter quarter at Columbus State.
Tuesday, December 17, 2002
- Running my D&D group through the Sunless Citadeal. Pretty interesting
moduel.
- Go get some cock
in your salad.
Monday, December 16, 2002
- Two new things today.
- First, the banner above. It was done by Jessup, a very talented artist.
There are also two other renditions she made, with the same basic form, but
different graphical effects. If you like this one, please send me an E-mail
and let me now. I want to make sure that peopl find the banner pleasing before
I go ahead with it.
- Secondly, I've been wondering how many of you would be interested in recieving
e-mails when the site is updated? I could easily manage a list of people who
wanted them. If you'd like this then drop me a line via E-mail,
I'll begin collecting applications for the site update notification list soon
if enough people want it.
- Also fixed a broken link from the Links section.
Thursday, December 12, 2002
- Blargh! It's been forever since I've actually updated the website. I'm still
alive, but looking for roomies and trying to effect a move that's been a long
time in the making. I'm also worried about the cost of rent till I find room-mates.
- Added stories by K.M. Hirosaki today. I'll have more either later or tomorrow.
I'm really trying to work at it.
- Ended up adding the rest of the stories that were waiting. Can we say second
wind anyone? Total story count now is 175. New story authors include Rancid,
Brotorr, Evoquus, K.M. Hirosaki, and .
- To all you readers out there that enjoy the stories, and I hope someone
does, because we're getting about 100-120 hits a day here, please send your
apperciations to authors. Feedback is a must, while authors understand that
you can't type out a lengthy analysis of their story, just taking 1 minute
to send a "thank you" or "keep on writing" shows the author
that their work is being apperciated.
Wednesday, November 27, 2002
- Huge update! We just added 60 stories to the archive today, all done by
Swamprat. I've got a few more from other authors that are waiting to be looked
over, and they'll be put in soon too. Enjoy the new stories, don't forget
to send your apperciations to Travi,
who made this all possible. Thanks again hon.
- I'm moving soon, so things may get very hetic in the next week or so.
Tuesday, November 19, 2002
- Travi: The grammar natzi has recently volunteered to help with reviewing
stories as well as fixing my, apparently, atrocious grammar laced throughout
the website's many informational sections. Specifically she has been ripping
through Swamprat's works left and right, giving them ratings so that I can
upload them into the archive. Please, please send
your apperciations to Travi, without her help I'd still be staring down
this huge heaping helping of Swamprat's stories and be swimming in an unknow
see of grammatical errors that make me look stupider than Bush.
- I'll actually start uploading the stories she has already reviewed soon,
so expect more updates before MFF, though during the con I'll be gone.
Sunday, November 17, 2002
- More updates today, upload stories from Fuzzwolf and K.M. Hirosaki. 113
stories total now, we keep on growing. Send us more!
- I keep on staring at this huge stack of stories from Swamprat. I haven't
met the 10 a day quota I set for myself, I've just been nibbiling away at
getting the stories done. Doing other, less prolific, authors in the mean
time gives me something to feel accomplished about.
- Ooo! I'll be at Midwest FurFest. Come see me there and say Hi! I'll work
on the "Bio" section to put some content in there so you know who
to look for. I wear a red dress, with a black and red boa. The outfit has
changed a bit this year though.
Wednesday, November 13, 2002
- Woo! The database keyword search is finally fixed. That means you should
be able to click on a keyword checkbox and have it work. It appears that the
"banner" function is working to, so you'll see new messages from
time to time under the search engine. Mostly I'll be using it to either annouce
new stories, additions, or to provide information such as what each keyword
means.
- Total fixes 4; Checkboxes work now, if you search the entire database at
once it should list alphabetically by story, two new adminsitrative things
to make it easier for me to add stories in a timely manner.
- I'm just elated that the search engine is finally functioning properly again,
it has been a long wait. I'll be adding FuzzWolf's stories tomorrow once I
get the energy together to get through them.
Sunday, November 10, 2002
- More updates! The archive has finally broken 100 stories, the total count
coming to 102 with contributions from Evoquus, Stripes, and Teetofox. I've
still got more stuff from FuzzWolf and Swamprat I need to go over. The task
is just taking some time, bear with me.
- Very tired from DDRing last night. Accidently left my jacket+PDA in coat
pocket with Jamie Otterbein which means I don't have any of my scheulde with
me at the moment, lost little kitty. He lives like way up in northeast Ohio,
but I'll probably have to drive out to get it ASAP because I really need that
back.
Thursday, November 7, 2002
- I'm back! Just arrived yesterday from an extended trip due to missing one's
flight by an entire day. I could swear it was on Tuesday, but my tickets said
otherwise. An expensive mistake to say the least. I had a blast meeting Roma,
and Gato in El Paso, TX. It was like, "Rowr!"
- I'm getting back into the swing of getting things done around here, mainly
getting my affairs in order so I have more time to review stories and look
over the website.
- Speaking of stories I got some new ones from a couple of folks. I should
have them up later tonight, and then I'll go back to the audacious task of
grinding away at reading Swamprat's volumes of stories. I'll be uploading
them in the 10s. So once I get the first 10 done, I'll upload them, then when
I get done with 20, then with 30, so on and on till I'm finished.
- Got into contact with the programmers again, and the database's functioning
seems to be a lack of communication, so things should be fixed soon I hope
now that they know that something is wrong :P
- Added a link to VCL on the links page.
- More stories! Just three this time, as I need to get some sleep soon. Thanks
to Evoquus for his first submissions and Cederwyn for submitting more.
Wednesday, October 30, 2002
- Tomorrow I'm leaving at 6am for El Paso Texas. Visiting Roma, a friend I
met at AC ^_^ Rowr. That means no updates till I get back on Tuesday. I promise
I'll get through a bunch of Swamprat's stories and put them into the archive
when I get back. Hopefully the archive's keyword search will be fixed by then.
Friday, October 25, 2002
- Well I wish the programmers would keep me informed, but apparently they
are doing work on the search engine. You'll notice that the URL it produces
after you search has changed, despite the fact that the keywords still aren't
working. Hopefully the matter will be resolved soon. I wish I could do more
about it.
- I went over Swamprat's works today. Wow. You can see the master
list for yourself. This will be a huge boon to the archive, from a very
well written author. Also have some stuff from Stripes to put up, I'll have
that tomorrow. Today has entailed a stomach ache, so I'm somewhat out of comission.
- Next weekend I'll be in Texas, so no updates or e-mail responses from Thursday
to Tuesday of that weekend.
Friday, October 25, 2002
- Been a while since I've put an update here. I'm really frustrated about
two things that are completely out of my control. The first being the number
of authors submitting work. I need more. I can only review what I have. I
don't mind having a workload, something I need to go through, but if I don't
have any stories to review, I can't post them to the database. Secondly, the
damn keyword search is still the fuck down. Been 5 days that it has not been
working. I'm sorry everyone, I wish I could do something about this. I don't
know PHP, and I don't want to let anyone but the programmers touch the coding.
It appears that they're working on it. I just hope the work is finished soon.
- That said about the amount of authors. I just realized that I have works
from Swamprat. I'll be e-mailing him tonight to request the stories for the
site. Mew. Tomorrow, if the keywords aren't opertional, I think 6 days, near
a week, is far too long for this website to be about 80% less effective since
it can't be searched.
Tuesday, October 22, 2002
- Added more stories, these one are by Llyander. That brings our total story
count to 93. Thanks a lot you big gryphon you ^_^
- More links today as well, one to Anthrocon
and the other to Midwest FurFest.
- Someday, when we actually have a banner, there will be advertisements on
Furbid.
- I'm going to make an appointment today to get fitted, fitted?, for some
glasses. My poor old eyes! Maybe I should do lasik or something like that.
Also need to take the car in to get the cadalitic converter replaced. Good
thing it is still under warranty.
- To the other webmasters out there, if you do link to FurrySmut.COM gimme
a hollar, I'd love to know, and I'm always up for a link trade.
- Got an e-mail from Swamprat containing the full list of his stories. Wow.
Adding them all will take some time. Hopefully he'll get them returned soon.
Monday, October 21, 2002
- Got an early start on the day today by getting up around 6am. Not that I
had much choice with my body deciding that I had enough sleep right then and
there.
- Added some stories to the database, these ones were written by David G.
More additions to the M/M section. And another story by Nightshade. This brings
the total story count up to 85. Almost to 100.
- Added more links one of which was to Yiffstar
another furrotica story database which I encourage all of you to go check
out.
Sunday, October 20, 2002
- Blargh! Apparently the keyword search is messed up at the moment. The problem
has been identified, thanks to David g. for e-mailing me. Along with that
he sent in some new stories to be posted to the database. Yaaa!
- Left my pillows at Trickster's house. Damnit! Thankfully mother lives only
5 minutes away, and the guest room wasn't the one I plundered for sleeping
devices.
- Programmers fixed the problem with the author's search. You should be able
to click on an author's name, and the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th... etc. page will
give you that page of their stories, and not just of the database.
- Added more stories! Nightshade and JP brougt the story total up to 78. I'm
going to add some stuff by David g. tomorrow, tiredkat.
Thursday, October 17, 2002
- Added more stories today. We have new entries from Eddiddiums, Eisfuchs,
Littleblue, and Soltris. That brings the total story count to 64. We're growing,
slowly but surely.
- Added actual content to the links section. Thanks to Amber
M. Panyko for creating the censorship pandas. I'm always more than happy
to support a link trade, want your site linked? Give me a hollar.
- Got a problem fixed with the maxium story file size able to be stored in
the database. Now we can take per story up to 4 megabytes which should be
more than sufficent. Thank Eisfuchs for checking up on his own story in the
archive and finding this bug.
- Secured permission from Nightshade to host his stories. They'll be going
in as soon as I review them.
- We're still looking for more stories and authors! Cajole your friends, taunt
your peers, the more submissions
the better.
Wednesday, October 16, 2002
- The database has been fixed again. I found that I can't use quotation marks
in the author's name :P Way to go Kyn'Elywnn. So from now on I'll be using
the uh, accent character ` to designate a quotation in an author's name. Also
the snippit of text that comes from the stories should be lacking the ugly
/s after each " and ' marks.
- Since the problems are now fixed I'm going to be adding more stories into
the database again, I've had some individual authors come forth with works
to be posted. Yaaaa! I'm sorry I've been unable to get around to them till
now, but I didn't want to enter any of the stories into the database without
it being fixed first.
- Two more know problems have been submitted to the programmers to fix. One
is the messed up way that searching by an author is worked out if you click
on their name to search. For now the work around is to use the Author: search
bar at the start. The other problem is the first page of all the stories that
you can't page back through, which unfortunately doesn't have a work around.
- I'm really tired of this vindictive shit. Today I read a nasty post off
of fur.stories.erotica (no I don't care if I post it anymore, I was being
laid back and not mentioning the exact place before) which slams me because
I try to learn from my mistakes :P What the fuck. I wrote a response, I really
really want to post it, but it isn't really important, I know XT is an idiot
and really is giving me the shittiest treatment there, and the newsgroup doesn't
need anymore traffic on this site. You can read what I wanted to post here
which includes the thing that really ticked me off at the top, yes thats a
quote I didn't write it, and my response at the bottom.
Sunday, October 13, 2002
- Despite initial misgivings, and some that still linger from rather venomous
personas, I've been given a sizeable amount of support from the community.
People have contributed through e-mails and newgroups posting, their support.
To everyone, I thank you, nothing helps more than knowing that someone
out there is getting utility from FurrySmut. I believe counter hits to be
a cold ineffect method of tallying one's effectualness at serving the community
at large, and apperciate every worded e-mail that comes in.
- Put in an addition to the Reader's
Guide to help explain the individual keywords.
Friday, October 11, 2002
- Due to some heavy discussion on a specific newsgroup, FurrySmut.COM has
altered its policy concerning author's permission. We plan to obtain permission
from all authors before their works are hosted. This is reflected in the Reader's
Guide.
- There should be another update later today if I can begin to review Swamprat's
heavy collection of M/M writings and enter them into the database. Tho, I've
got to eat with mother dearest, get a haircut, and play in an Ironclaw game
tonight, so you never know. Busykat.
- Well I did add some stories today, which puts the total count up to 56.
The new additions are from Kyn'Elwynn who contributed a lot from the Leopold's
Nights universe. Thanks Kyn ^_^
- Ignore the anomalous crap being displayed under Kyn's stories, that is from
the programmers working on the database. It should be resolved, and Kyn's
e-mail should actually work properly, within the week. Should be adding some
stuff from Llyander here soon.
Thursday, October 10, 2002
- Well FurrySmut.com is now offically OPEN FOR BUSINESS! Yaaa! It has been
a long time coming since the inception of the site, with numerous problems
plauging FurrySmut's finalization this is a welcome relife. As of the moment,
30 stories are held inside of the database, all by two authors. I had to comb
through 29 stories today, and it took about 5 hours total, to review and then
enter them into the database. Tomorrow I'll add more. Every time I add stories,
there will be a post into the News section so keep a look out. My brain is
a little fried right now from reading so many pages of smut.
- Changed the link to the "stories" section to reflect the real
disclaimer that has been put up. All of that legal stuff is for my, and the
authors' protection, but don't hesitate to go in once you've fully read it.
- Added some stories by Leslie Rashana which brings the total story count
to 48 stories.
Wednesday, October 9, 2002
- The database *is* up. Unfortunately I'm unable to add stories to it. Between
that and the programmer's e-mail server getting a virus, I've been unable
to get anything done. Site still down until I can get someone to fix this.
I personally called (normally I just e-mail) this problem in, which is when
I was alerted to the virus that had been spread (not that it affected me),
and I was able to explain the problem to the lead guy at progammer's pub.
It -should- be fixed soon.
- I also found out today that I deleted my archives that I had on the desktop,
I even went to the lengths of downloading a shareware undeleting program,
which didn't work. I have to recover all the deleted stories, and rearchive
them, though my memory is pretty good, and I have a general idea of what each
story is before I rereview it. I've already started this process of the work.
- As always, your patience is apperciated.
Thursday, October 3, 2002
- Apparently, as in how it seems from the facts, some members/readers, or
maybe just one rogue individual who reads, of fur.artwork.erotica holds witch
hunts. A friend had their site reported to the carrier "upstream"
(IE. If your server is on an AOL network, you can talk to AOL about the content
on a site "downstream" of them) as having copyright violations after
information was posted to fur.artwork.erotica about their website. This friend
was never notified about the fact that someone thought they had violated copyright,
and actually had the copyright permission from the person whose pictures
that the friend was hosting. Despite that, they were reported and their site
was shutdown without even a consideration for the truth by the "reporters"
or the upstream server maintainers. Recently Tyler David Coltrain (that is
the name in the post) posted this on fur.artwork.erotica
in response to the fact that I uploaded scanned images here. Since scanned
images of BoTB are not the main focus of this site, I don't want the site
to be shutdown before it begins, and the whole issue is rather silly, I've
decided to simply remove the manga. I just want to make it clear that I don't
hold fur.artwork.erotica, or any of it's member in contempt, but that from
the apperance of "witch hunts" and past experiences of friends/myself
in the furry community, I feel that FurrySmut.com will serve better taking
this route.
- On a lighter note, since contacting the programmers, the search engine is...
nearing completetion, and you can actually log
into it, abliet there still isn't any content as I'm not sure if the engine
is completed and ready for final use. I'm sending another e-mail to the programmers
to see if it completely installed yet. Also added a News section which I'll
shunt the old news articles off into once this list gets unseemingly long
so that load times for the main page stay short.
Tuesday, October 1, 2002
- Okay, so I sent a slightly aggravated e-mail to the place that should have
installed the program. Apparently it was thought that the job was done a week
ago. Blargh. This should expidite the process of getting things finally
finished. To tide you all over, I give you Book
of the Beast a furry hentai manga to help tide people over until the engine
is up. In the directory you'll find .png scans, two of which I think are slightly
bad, and a zip
file along with the individual pictures if you just want to download all of
it at once. Thanks again for everyone's patience, I haven't gotten any death
threats yet. =P
Thursday, September 26, 2002
- *grumble* The search engine is still down. You all have my humblest apologies.
The MySQL database is up, they have the passwords, and they're working on
it. Check back at the beginning of next month. Hopefully things should be
up and running by then.
- I've been plagued by computer fan problems. First my chipset fan, the small
one next to the CPU fan, decided to die after getting to a LAN party at Soltris'
and setting up for 2 and 1/2 hours so I ended up playing Risk 2022, which
was interesting enough. I had to ghetto rig a fan that didn't fit where my
old one was since my ASUS board didn't have the holes for a normal chipset
fan. Now my GeForce 3 fan is dying as well, thankfully it didn't just up and
quit, so my computer's video is still alive.
- Oh and I picked up a PDA
for my birthday from the family, and now all I need is a keyboard to carry
around and geek out on.
Tuesday, September 17, 2002
- I've been getting questions about this. And unfortunately
the search engine is not online at this time. It should be within the week,
once Techwolf sets up the MySQL database and the programmers install the actual
program. Check back at the end of this week, by that time the search engine
should be fully operational, and you'll be able to download smut like a madman.
- While your waiting for the search engine to come up, read
the "reader's" section, and give me feedback.
- My birthday is two days away. Yay for soon to be 19!
Sunday, September 15, 2002
- Began work on actual HTML for FurrySmut. Everyone say thanks
to Trigem for getting me a copy of Dream Weaver so that this site has some
actual jazz to it. ^_^
- Have about 60 stories cataloged and ready to go. It is slow
going, but thankfully once it's done, I don't have to repeat the work.
- Found an artist to do the logo, Heather Reedy, otherwise
know as Jessup. She is such a sweet heart.
- Otherwise I'm just working on adding the framework for FS until the programmers
come and install the database for the furry stories
- Also wondering if there is a better way to do these news updates. Ah well,
this works for now.
-Jewel
